Entitled Helena (after this season’s muse, Helena Rubinstein) Peter Jensen took a more grown up route for a/w 06; but with Peter Jensen it never means toned down or conservative. With high, high hair and a definitive 60’s vibe, he showed glamorous shift dresses in gold paisley print brocade, neat cardigans cinched in skinny leather belts, boxy Jackie O style jackets and velour tops. Rubinstein’s fine jewellery collection was depicted as stick on gems that decorated the bibs of most pinafores. His party dresses were also glamorous; the best was a pretty toffee-coloured silk shift with chiffon overlay, velvet straps and pepping emerald green and white pleated petticoat. SH
